Quilters for Ukraine
I am heartbroken. Like many of you, I watch the news and see what is happening to the innocent people of Ukraine. The humanitarian crisis is overwhelming and I asked myself what can I do to make a difference? How can I help? How can we as a quilting community help?
My heart says quilt! However, my head knows right now the refugees have greater needs such as shelter, food, and medical assistance. It's to that end that I believe we can make an immediate impact. Bonnie Hunter and I are raising money which will benefit Together Rising in support of Ukrainian families. We have created a Go Fund Me account called Quilters for Ukraine. You can read about how Together Rising is making things happen for Ukrainian refugees and families, including many minority communities HERE.

This brings me to Hope for Ukraine, a fundraising quilt project in three parts!
First, to support the refugees for their immediate needs I will be donating all the net proceeds from the sale of the Hope for Ukraine Mini Mystery Stash Builder Bundles and the Hope Quilt pattern, both printed and PDF versions, directly to this fund. I will update the fund weekly so you can see how your impact is helping.
The Hope for Ukraine Mini Mystery Stash Builder Bundles are 6 half yards of blue and yellow fabric. This is 3 yards of high quality quilt shop fabric for $30. The Stash Builder Bundles are currently listed as a preorder while we await restock. Our original inventory sold out in 10 minutes on Friday thanks to you awesome people! Fabric is on it's way, as I type.

Secondly, we quilt!
Let's start simple by beginning with Hope blocks. Make 2, make 4, make as many as you'd like. When the time comes, you can either sew your blocks together into a whole top or if you don't have enough, send them to GE Designs. We will group the blocks together in quantities to create quilts and will send them volunteers to be pieced and quilted. Please do NOT send these blocks to us yet. This humanitarian crisis will be long lasting, let's allow them time to find a home first.
- Please make equal numbers of Block A and Block B
- Please try to use colors represented in the photos, nothing too navy, nothing too pastel
- You can watch the videos from our Hope QAL if you'd like a refresher, HERE.
Finally, when the time comes the finished quilts can be returned to GE Designs and I will find a way to get them into the hands of the refugees. I will let everyone know when we're ready for them.
You can watch Tipsy Tuesday below to learn more about our fundraising efforts. Feel free to share with your friends, your local shops, and your guild members. Quilters really are the best people.
