Two Timer Quilt Along from Stripology Mixology
Our first Quilt Along of 2019 was a success! Hundreds of quilters joined me in creating Two Timer quilts from Stripology Mixology. This QAL took place over the course of 3 Tipsy Tuesday episodes in January and February. It was such great fun to see everyone's quilts as the quilt along progressed. Of course we included a giveaway for each stage of the QAL. A random name was drawn in a giveaway post after each part. Thanks FreeSpirit Fabrics for providing prizes for our 3 winners!
I chose Two Timer because it's actually a pair of simple quilts made with 5" squares and a background. You'll use the same fabrics in both but the end results will be distinctly different. Fraternal twins, if you will! Actually, these would be great for any twins in your life.
Before we get into the QAL, now would be a good opportunity to try out your Stripology Squared Mini ruler. It's the perfect tool for working with 5" squares. Here's my Stripology 101 video, if you'd like a refresher. :)
Onto the Quilt Along ~
Part 1 Kick Off took place during January 8th's Tipsy Tuesday episode. I talked about and demonstrated how to cut, trim, and press your squares. The goal for Part 1 was to have all fabric cut and the squares sewn together. Click on the Tipsy Tuesdy episode to watch our first steps.

Part 2 was all about pressing and trimming squares. As I've said before, pressing matters. I always write detailed pressing instructions in my patterns so your seams will nest when sewing them together. The goal for Part 2 was to trim and press all units. It sounds like a simple step and it is. It's just that there are many units to attend to. :) Jennifer H said, "All done trimming. Mini Stripology made it easy!"

Part 3 Layouts!!! YAY! This is the fun stuff. If you thought there were only 2 layout options, you'll love this Tipsy Tuesday episode. Not only do I demonstrate the easiest way to layout A and B quilts, I give you 3 additional layouts. There's a PDF on the website with those layouts under the Free Patterns and Templates tab. Finally, I asked that people share their quilt tops in the 3rd Giveaway post. I think you'll be amazed.
