A Stroll in Paris Mystery BOM Blocks 1 & 2

Monday, June 24th

The first two stops on our Stroll in Paris Mystery BOM, Notre Dame (Block 1, 5/6/19 release) and Trocadero (Block 2, 6/6/19 release), have resulted in successful blocks! Quilters are loving the blocks and the accompanying videos. I've decided to treat these blog posts like Travel Journal entries with photos and quotes from quilters who are 'strolling' along with me.

May 2019 Block 1 Notre Dame

Our Stroll began with a stop to view the beautiful windows of Notre Dame. Sadly, the day before Block 1's release, a terrible fire broke out and destroyed large portions of this national landmark. We were all so sad to watch the footage. How fitting that our first block honored the Cathedral.

Cindy G commented in Gudrun's Quilt Crew,

"SIP Block #1 done! Excellent instructions, went together perfectly and loved watching and listening to Gudrun’s video instructions while putting it together! It was like she was right in my sewing room with me!😊"

Elaine G also logged her progress in Gudrun's Quilt Crew,

"I finally had time to work on SIP Block #1. I was assembly line sewing all four of them and near the end I had to complete just one block! You are a genius! This is the first quilt of yours that I have done and it is perfect — so easy to put together with lots of pieces! I love it! Great job designing this! Thank you so much! Can’t wait ‘til next week for Block #2!

"Great pattern so far, learning lots about the Stripology Rulers"

Block 1 creations by Carol M, Danith F, and Ellen U~ Can you spot the Eiffel Towers in Carol's Notre Dame windows? I love how Ellen's ombre fabric and Danith's print gives texture to their windows.

June 2019 Block 2 Trocadero

Trocadero Esplanade is the perfect spot to view the Eiffel Tower. But while everyone else was gazing afar, I couldn't help but notice the ground beneath my feet. I loved the simplicity of the squares paired with the rich, polished marble tiles. And we all know quilters love a good tile layout!

Lechel K posted,

"Blocks one & two done. Patterns & videos make everything go together smoothly. Thanks, Gudrun!"

Melinda T echoed a common refrain in Gudrun’s Quilt Crew,

"A Stroll in Paris BOM - Months 1 & 2. Do we really need to wait 4 weeks for the next installment? Can we still call it a BOM but have the clues come weekly or every two weeks? Really loving quilting since I switched to the Stripology Rulers. So much more work done this year. #strollinparisbomq"

Sharon D commented,

“Very happy with how well they have turned out. Decided to follow along with the video, instead of jumping in! For anyone who hasn’t joined in the fun because they look complicated and are worried, don’t be! Gudrun has it all covered with easy step by step instructions🤗”

 Block 2 created by Deborah B, Kathy B and Melanie B ~

Three different color groupings, textural fabrics and more Eiffel Towers! You can see in the photos below from Janice M, Marge B and Nancy D the blocks play really well together!

I encourage you to follow along and share your progress on GE Designs' Facebook page and in Gudrun's Quilt Crew. If you're active on Instagram share your photos there and make sure to tag me @gedesignsgudrun. Use #strollinparisbomq too, that way I can see your posts.

If you'd like to participate, each block PDF pattern and accompanying video are available on my website. New blocks will be released on the 6th of the month, now through January 2020. Make sure you create an account when ordering. Here's a few links to get you started.

I'll continue to journal as the Stroll in Paris continues. I hope you're as excited as I am to see what's next.
