Let's get this AVA Quilt Along started!
Who's up for a Quilt Along?
Last fall I asked the members of Gudrun's Quilt Crew which of the new patterns they'd prefer for a QAL and Ava was the winner. This Stripology Mixer is created using 10" squares and 2 1/2" strips. It's the perfect project to practice with your new Stripology XL Ruler and GEasy Point Trimmers. I'll demonstrate the easiest, most accurate way to cut and piece this quilt. You'll be a pro in no time.
The quilt along will take place during the following Tipsy Tuesdays on my Facebook page, GE Designs. If you aren't available during the live airing, you can find the episode links on my Facebook page under the Videos and also on my website under the Video/Tipsy Tuesdays tab.

As an added BONUS, there are giveaways for each Part of the QAL. Post a photo of your 'homework' for each Part of the QAL on the corresponding Giveaway Post on GE Designs Facebook page OR post on Instagram and use #avaqal and tag @gedesignsgudrun and you could win a prize from GE Designs or Aurifil! Winners are randomly drawn and announced during Tipsy Tuesday.
AVA QAL PART ONE aired Tuesday, January 14th. I showed a number of fabric options I'm thinking about using, an alternative vertical layout for a lapsized Ava, and talked a bit about how to use directional fabrics for this quilt.
In addition to the Ava pattern and fabric, 10" squares & 2 1/2" strips either cut from yardage or your favorite pre-cuts, the following items would be really helpful. Not necessary, but helpful. :)
