Stella QAL Week #4 Assembly
This is it, your last step in creating a Stella quilt. You've pulled and cut fabrics, sewn and squared blocks and now it's time to put it all together. As you start Step 4 there are a few things to consider.
First, will your layout be scrappy or color blocked? If you've got equal numbers of colors, you could certainly group them together in fours, i.e. 4 reds, 4 greens, 4 blues. If you'd prefer a scrappier look then mix it up, remembering to keep the darks and lights in their own foursome. I find it's best to lay it out and take a picture on my phone. Then, I step away and see what I like best.
The next two steps, sewing and pressing, are best tackled after watching the video. You'll see how I sew and press in order to spin the seams and create a really flat center star.
See how I did that? If you spin the seams in the same direction all the blocks of your quilt will match up. YAY! Now, turn that iron on and get to work. And when you're finished make sure you share a photo of your quilt in Gudrun's Quilt Crew and/or on Instagram with #stellaqal.
Here's what others have shared ~ Portia and Janet have color blocked their quilts, while Lesley and Kate have opted for a scrappy look. They're all great!
And that should do it for this quilt along. Keep an eye on my GE Designs Facebook page and join Gudrun's Quilt Crew to take part in the next one, wink, wink! I hope you have enjoyed this quilt along as much as I have. It's been great seeing how people pull fabrics together to create their own unique quilt. I can't wait to see yours.
Until next time, keep strippin'
